Hawas is an independent Egyptian band, formed in Cairo in 2014. Hawas presents alternative music that aims at exploring new musical dimensions through mixing different music genres. Hawas’ distinguished sound comes from progressive music mixed with the drama of melody and lyrics as a special mean of human expression. Hawas’ lyrics revolve around tales of humans; be it suffering, happiness, memories or journeys of self discovery.

Hawas self produced two EPs in 2015, “Hawas” and “Like Winter”. Hawas performed multiple live shows in and outside of Cairo, and also took part in important events such as Carthage Music Festival 2017, D-CAF festival 2017, and the opening of Goethe Film Week, 2016.

Hawas was formed by five former members of “Maghna Khan” band and currently consists of eight musicians: Mahmoud Khateeb (Lead Vocal), Marwan Fawzi (Accordion), Amir Rasmy (Keyboards), Hisham Anas (Oud), Al-Moataz Bellah Moussa (Lead Guitar), Mahmoud Waly (Bass Guitar), Ahmed Tito (Drums) and Bouda Abu El Yazeed (Percussions).

This energetic and talented group out of Cairo in Egypt started at the beginning of 2008. Having met each other through talent shows, friends and the underground music circuit in Cairo the group was eventually formed.

Since then they have performed all over Egypt at concerts, festivals and gigs such as;

-Cairo Rock Festival VOL II

-Maadi Color Festival

-Wadi Degla Music Festival

-Sawy Culture Wheel (Performing there more then 10 times during 1 year period)

-Rawabit Theater (Performed there more then 5 times)

The main message of this group is “The Resistance for whatever you resist for”.

Their music adheres to all ages from the young to the old. The youth love the music because the music talks to their problems and needs in everyday life. The older crowd is drawn to their music because of the nostalgic feel it creates which often reminds them of the 60’s and 70’s.

The group’s main goal and aim is to spread the Rock music spirit all around the world and to also make people around the world change the image they have about Arab culture.

This group has huge talent and drives and will soon be a staple on the Middle Eastern rock scene.

Medhat Mamdouh was born at 13/2/1993 play recorder at 14 years old without learning any techniques from anybody. He discovered it on his own to reach his dream.

He started making auditions at nokia asha freestyle by winning the first place by voting in egypt & jordan & Morocco and started making Great concerts.

Medhat is highly experienced with performing in advertisement to pizza king, do Interviews on T.Vs & radios at ( صدى البلد - Sada Elbalad - برنامج عز الشباب علي روتانا مصرية, making a movie About FreeStyle with nokia. Performing in Arabs Got talent.

Yansa Samada Valdes is a talented Flutist currently based in Egypt.
