Serbian-born Bulgarian cellist Magdalena Petrovich has attended various masterclasses across Europe with renowned musicians such as Franz Bartolomey (Vienna Philharmonic), Niclas Schmidt, Ventseslav Nikolov, Vladimir Perlin, Harro Ruisenaars (Netherlands), Anatoli Krastev, and Diliana Momchilova. She has also worked with Michel Strauss (Paris Conservatoire), Alexander Somov (guest principal of the LPO), and Rinat Ibragimov (London Symphony Orchestra).

In the summer of 2016, Magdalena was accepted to participate in the “Pablo Casals” Summer Academy in France, where she worked with Niclas Schmidt. That same year, she also took part in the "Rutesheim Cello Academy" (Germany), where she studied with Jakob Spahn, Wen Sinn Yang, and jazz cellist Stephan Braun.

Her musical education began at the National School of Music in Sofia before she continued her studies at one of the world’s leading conservatories, the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, under the tutelage of Stefan Popov. She then pursued further studies at the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague (Netherlands) under Larissa Groeneveld and later obtained a master’s degree from the Royal Academy of Music in London, again studying with Niclas Schmidt.

During her time in the Netherlands, Magdalena participated in orchestral projects in prestigious concert halls such as Muziekgebouw (Amsterdam), De Doelen (Rotterdam), and Anton Philipszaal (The Hague).

Beyond classical music, Magdalena has been passionate about improvisation since childhood. At the age of 15, she formed her own band. She has performed with a variety of musicians and bands, including Roger O'Donnell (The Cure), Nick Fyffe (Jamiroquai), Markandeya (Sweden), Robert Wauu, Milenita, Lady Jelena (Serbia), the band "Naked" (Serbia), Ruth Koleva, Ivo Dimchev (with whom she frequently tours across Europe), Skiller, Kan Wakan, Nina Nikolina, Theodosii Spasov, Svetlin Rousev, Dicho (D2), Oratnitza, Kayno Yasno Slonce, and Nasekomix (for whom she recorded songs for their first album).

In 2013, Magdalena joined a tour with the renowned English tenor Alfie Boe, performing in prestigious venues such as the Royal Albert Hall (London), Royal Concert Hall (Nottingham), Playhouse (Edinburgh), and Odyssey (Belfast). That same year, she participated in the Orlando Festival, the oldest chamber music festival in the Netherlands.

As a cellist, Magdalena has performed at numerous Bulgarian festivals, including Spirit of Burgas, Drum and Jazz, Exit Warm-Up Festival – Sofia, Sofia Fusion Fest, Sofia Film Fest 2016, and Beglika Fest 2016, as well as the High Tide Festival (UK), where she collaborated with actors from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, improvising on cello.

In April 2015, she made her first professional audio recording of Debussy’s Cello Sonata with pianist Ines Simeonova. The duo performed together in a concert in Wantage (England) and at the Gwalior Music Festival (India) during Christmas 2015.

Magdalena has also collaborated with various orchestras, including Orkester Norden (Denmark), where she performed at the Musikhuset Aalborg; Genesis Orchestra, where she played with Lisa Gerrard; and the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra, where she performed alongside Andrea Bocelli. She has also played with the New Symphony Orchestra (Sofia).

In 2019, Magdalena reached the semifinals of Bulgaria’s Got Talent.

She has performed in a duo with Belgian accordionist Robbrecht Van Cauwenberghe, with concerts in Oxford (Jaqueline du Pré’s Room) and the Netherlands. They plan to continue working together, with their next concert scheduled in Sofia.

Magdalena has recorded for the Netflix series Encounters and has participated in numerous film session recordings as a soloist. She has also recorded for the band Womb and contributed to Ivo Dimchev's album. In 2020, she recorded for the Bulgarian Eurovision Song Contest entry.

Her latest solo project incorporates a loop station, blending pop music with her own compositions. She recently completed a successful solo tour in the south of France during the summer of 2024 and performed a classical solo recital in Paris in January 2024.
